Everwell

An original 2.5D action roguelike · In early development

Everwell follows a little knight through a fallen kingdom bound to everlasting life. The project brings together my work in character design, environment art, animation, and worldbuilding, with an emphasis on expressive characters and responsive combat.

My process moves between drawing, prototyping, and testing artwork in context. I develop assets with the gameplay camera in mind, reviewing their scale, silhouettes, and readability as they become part of the playable environment. The Fields is the first area I’m developing in detail, combining hand-drawn foliage, weathered stonework, and warm sunlight.

The current prototype features sword combat, dodging, three relic abilities, varied encounters, and progression between expeditions. Playtesting helps me assess how movement, animation, and visual feedback support the action, then guides the next round of refinement.

Development is currently focused on the Fields environment and the opening expeditions. Placeholder geometry supports ongoing testing while final character and environment artwork takes shape.
